Trachycarpus fortunei x princeps
The Trachycarpus fortunei x princeps is a highly sought-after, hardy palm hybrid that combines the robust growth of the Trachycarpus fortunei with the beautiful silver-blue foliage color and stiffer leaves of the Trachycarpus princeps.
It is highly resistant to severe winters and strong winds.
This cross is beloved by exotic garden enthusiasts for a few fantastic characteristics:
• Silver-blue underside: Just like the rare princeps, the leaves often have striking white or blue tints on the underside.
• Hardiness: The palm is just as hardy as the well-known Hemp Palm (resistant to temperatures down to approx. -15°C to -17°C).
• Wind resistance: The leaves are generally stiffer and more compact than those of a standard fortunei, making them less likely to tear in the wind.
